Informations to …
Costume Parade – Saturday, August 22, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This year, we would like to host a nostalgic Costume Parade in which participants can win awards and placements, just like at a regular dog show.

Judging will be based on your overall presentation together with your dog(s), including details such as a lead that matches your costume. Please do not over-decorate your dog; the aim is to create the impression that your dog naturally belongs to the chosen historical period with you. :-)

Here is some additional information:

  • All costumes should have a nostalgic or historical theme – so no clowns, fantasy characters, etc.
  • The most important aspect is that you can explain the connection between your costume and our wonderful breed. After registering, you will receive a form on which you can describe the historical background and explain your choice.
  • Possible themes include, for example:

    • The Settler Era – when our breed was developed
    • The 1920s – when the breed standard was first written
    • The 1950s – when Rosie Brook-Risse won the World Winner Show in Germany for the first time with a Rhodesian Ridgeback
    • The 1970s – when the first Rhodesian Ridgeback club was founded in Germany
    • The 1990s – when our club was established

... and there are certainly many other important milestones in the history of our wonderful breed. Feel free to explore the history of the Rhodesian Ridgeback and choose another significant event or era. As mentioned above, you will have the opportunity to explain your choice, and we will read your explanation aloud during the parade.

  • Judging and placements will be carried out by a small panel of judges made up of our volunteers, using a predefined list of judging criteria:-)

Most importantly: this event is meant to be fun and enjoyable for everyone!

How the Costume Parade Will Work:

  • This event will take place during the lunch break.
  • Approximately 10 minutes after the start of the lunch break, you will have time to change into your costume.
  • Participants will then be called into the ring one by one. The selected judging panel will evaluate each presentation, make their decisions and ...
  •  Placings will be announced just as they would be at a regular dog show.
  •  The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed participants will later be entered into the raffle for a one-week Baltic Sea holiday in a dog-friendly holiday home.
  • At the end of the event, we would also like to take a group photo of all participants together.
  • The official judges of the Club Show will neither participate in nor watch the Costume Parade, ensuring that no exhibitor receives any advantage or disadvantage in the regular show judging.

… Stud Dog Show, Sunday, August 23, 9.00 – 10.30 a.m:

This year, we are once again organising a Stud Dog Presentation for interested breeders and Rhodesian Ridgeback owners. It is a great opportunity for both stud dog owners and breeders, because:

  • Each stud dog will be presented individually will be presented individually in the ring and can demonstrate his movement without having to adjust his pace to other dogs.
  • Every stud dog will also have the opportunity to present himself calmly while standing.
  • Stud dogs and owners with little or no show experience, or those who are not interested in participating in regular dog shows, will have the opportunity to present their dogs. This allows breeders to discover stud dogs that might otherwise never be shown.
  • Different handlers may be used during the presentation. For example, one person may stack the dog while another presents him on the move.
  • A video, head shots and stacked photographs will be taken of every stud dog at no additional cost.

    • The raw video may be published online shortly after the event. Later, a complete presentation video will be created for each stud dog, including the video footage, photographs, pedigree and other breeding-relevant information. These videos will be published on the Club E.L.S.A. Instagram and Facebook pages, where they can be viewed and shared by anyone interested in the dog.
    • Of course, the completed video can also be sent directly to the stud dog owner. Please contact the show management after the event if you would like to receive it.

  • Every stud dog will be featured in the Stud Dog Catalogue with at least a double-page presentation. One page will contain the pedigree, breeding-relevant information and additional details such as litters, titles and achievements. A second page (and, if required, third and fourth pages) will be dedicated to photographs and/or a photo collage of the dog.
  • After successful registration, stud dog owners will receive a form on which they can enter all relevant information about their dog, together with supporting documentation such as breeding approval certificates, health test results and other required records.
  • The entry fee automatically includes one catalogue.
  •  Additional catalogues will be available for interested breeders, although numbers will be limited. If you would like to purchase an additional catalogue, please contact the show management by email no later than two weeks before the Stud Dog Show (additional charges apply).

Schedule

Individual Presentation in Ring 1 (from 9:00 a.m.)
Each stud dog will be presented standing and moving. During the presentation, breeding-relevant information (parents, health screening results, test results) as well as titles and notable achievements will be announced. Video footage will also be recorded at this stage.

Photographs and Meet & Greet in Ring 2
After the individual presentation, each stud dog will move to the second ring, where head and stacked photographs will be taken. Interested visitors and breeders will also have the opportunity to meet the dog and speak with the owner.

Finish: approximately 10:25 a.m.
To keep the event on schedule, entries are limited to a maximum of 20 stud dogs.

Only after the Stud Dog Show has finished will the official judges return to the rings, ensuring that no exhibitor receives any advantage or disadvantage. :-)
